  • It lets the devices in your fleet, including sensors, gateways, telematics units, and edge machines, reach your infrastructure and each other from anywhere, without exposing them to the public internet. With Defined Networking, every device joins one overlay network where connections are mutually authenticated with certificates, end-to-end encrypted, and limited to the hosts each device is authorized to reach.

  • Yes. The agent is built on open-source Nebula and is deliberately lightweight, using minimal CPU and memory so it runs comfortably on embedded hardware and edge gateways. When the hardware allows, it can also saturate the available link, so you are not trading throughput for a small footprint.

  • Each device makes outbound connections and re-establishes its tunnels automatically as its underlying network changes. A device can move from Wi-Fi to LTE to 5G and keep its stable overlay address, so the services talking to it do not need to track a changing IP.

  • Yes. Devices use UDP hole punching to connect directly even when they have no public IP, which is the norm on cellular and CGNAT. When a direct path is not available, relays maintain encrypted connectivity so the device stays reachable.

  • Connections are peer-to-peer, so traffic does not funnel through a central gateway that becomes a bottleneck as the fleet grows. You manage devices at scale with tags, applying configuration and identity-based firewall rules to whole groups at once instead of device by device.

  • Every device is issued its own certificate, so connections are mutually authenticated by identity rather than by a shared key or password. A built-in host firewall then limits each device to only the hosts and services it is allowed to reach, so a single compromised device cannot move laterally across the fleet.

  • Yes. Routes let a host that runs the agent bridge other equipment onto the overlay network, so legacy controllers, appliances, and sensors behind a gateway can be reached without running the client directly.
